Magnetic Caps for Septa
Magnetic caps are designed for autosamplers, such as CTC’s Pal system, that use a magnet to move vials. The cap’s center hole supports laboratory testing, but still provides enough surface area for the magnet to securely hold an autosampler vial that’s been filled.
Advantages of Open Top Caps
Specialty Silicone Products (SSP) provides open-top caps that are attracted to the strong grip of autosampler magnets for greater processing efficiency and reduced operator handling. We also provide cap mats if you need them.

A crimp cap seals a container by compressing a septum between the bottle rim and a metal cap using a crimping tool, while a screw cap seals by screwing onto threads on the bottle neck, creating a seal through mechanical pressure applied by twisting the cap; essentially, a crimp cap requires a special tool to seal, while a screw cap can be tightened by hand.

Since most autosamplers using magnets are running analysis that are sensitive to siloxane peaks, all the PTFE/Silicone septum utilize our Ultra Low Bleed technology ensuring your results are not going to have siloxane interference.
EasyPierce Technology
We also use very soft, easy piercing septa in the 18mm cap for SPME applications where very thin, fragile needles are used.
EasyPierce™ septa support multiple piercings with a needle or a syringe. These resealable septa are easy to penetrate but remain leak-free after repeated punctures in applications such as laboratory diagnostics and chemical packaging. These elastomeric products also avoid fragmentation that can contaminate samples.
